Laboratory Production Technician – Cancer Vaccines

Torigen is a private equity funded company delivering accessible and affordable companion animal immuno-oncology products for pets. Our initial patented product line utilizes a small portion of an animal’s tumor to create a personalized cancer vaccine. With over 10 years of supporting pre-clinical research, Torigen is committed to developing innovative veterinary cancer treatments.

We are in search of a Lab Production Technician to support the production of our proprietary cancer vaccines and help deliver the next standard of care in the veterinary immuno-oncology market.

You will be operating under 9-CFR quality standards and managing all aspects of vaccine production, from the receipt of the patient sample, to the vaccine production, to ensuring timely delivery of the completed vaccine to the referring veterinarian. Veterinarian support is a top priority at Torigen, and this role will require you to develop close relationships with surgical, primary care, and oncology veterinarian customers.

The successful candidate will initially report to the CEO.

Role Responsibilities

  • As a Laboratory Production Technician, you will be responsible for performing laboratory
    vaccine processing, quality control testing, technical service work (as required), interpretation
    of data, preparation of reports, and some data entry

  • Facilitate orders for laboratory supplies in accordance with inventory management

  • Manage and track materials throughout the vaccine processing cycle

  • Closely collaborate with internal research team and other key U.S. stakeholders to ensure
    accurate clinical data flows to and from our clinical reporting database.

  • Perform all activities in accordance with USDA 9CFR guidelines and other applicable
    regulations, guidelines, and best practices

  • Receive and process inbound shipments

  • Manage ingredient orders, expiration and shelf life studies

  • Safe handling and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials

  • Performs glass wash duties

  • Maintains and checks eye wash stations

  • Database upkeep and patient follow-up

  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks for equipment

  • Serve as laboratory safety officer

  • Provides exemplary customer service to veterinarian customers


  • Passion for improving the lives of companion animals

  • Bachelor of Science degree

  • 2+ years of laboratory technician experience

  • Experience in one or more of the following: Immunology, cancer biology, microbiology, cell
    counting, spectrophotometry, pathology'

  • Must be well organized, capture work details and learning and highlight any unexpected
    learning lab techniques

  • Exposure to 9 CFR quality standards

  • Experience with safe laboratory practices

  • Experience with good manufacturing procedures

  • Veterinary industry experience a plus

  • Adept with Microsoft programs, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

About the department

The position is based out of UCONN Health located in Farmington, CT.
